Cinnamon Puff Cookies

Why did I decide to make cookies this week? I'm not exactly sure, but I suppose you don't need a reason to whip up a batch of cookies. 'Just because' is a good enough reason as it is. I remembered these great cookies from a time when my mother would bake one of every kind during the Christmas season. Being a bit of rebel, I did away with the seasonal necessity and went for it anyway. 

Servings: 24 cookies

Level: Easy 

Prep Time: 40 minutes


Unsalted butter

Granulated sugar


Vanilla extract

Baking powder

Baking soda



Ground ginger

Ground nutmeg

AP flour

Powdered sugar

Ground cinnamon


1 c.

2.5 c.

2 E.

1 t.

1 t.

1/2 t.

1/2 t.

2 t.

1/4 t.

1 t.

3 c.


1/4 c.

1 T.


Cream butter and sugar. Add wet ingredients. Scrape down the bowl. Add dry ingredients and mix until just combine.

Rolls dough to 1/4-inch thick between parchment paper. Firm in the refrigerator, then cut out with a cookie cutter. Bake at 350F for 10 minutes. Let cool, then dust with sugar and cinnamon.


To Serve:

Serve with a glass of milk.


Cooking note:

Use a sifter to evenly dust the cookies with cinnamon and sugar.


Storage Instructions:

Store in an airtight container.
